Sports Injury Rehabilitation
Dana and his team have extensive experience working with athletes of all levels. As the Head Therapist for the Sports Medicine Specialist in Toronto for over 3 years, Dana has worked with Olympic athletes, and recreational athletes to assist in their prompt return to sport. We will tailor your necessary rehab to the activity you are required to return to, as well as offer advice in training while injured.
We will work with your coaches and trainers to speed up your recovery.

Neck and Back Injuries
Post-Operative Rehabilitation
Dana has had the opportunity during his career to work with numerous surgeons which has led to his acute knowledge of surgical techniques and protocols. This allows for quicker rehab as your therapist will always be striving for peak performance in your allowable range.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a method of balancing the body's energy by inserting needles under the skin at specific points along energy pathways (meridians), to prevent or cure disorders of the body.Modern approaches recognize that needles inserted at acupuncture points induce biochemical changes in the body and accelerate healing.
Acupuncture is a safe, effective way to complement and enhance conventional medical treatment.

Exercise Prescription
Exercise is the best way to prevent injury and to maintain stability and endurance around healing tissues.Research shows that exercise promotes more long-term benefit than passive treatment alone. This is why we strive to ensure your program is tailored to suit your needs.

Active Release Techniques
ART treats problems with muscles, tendons, fascia and
nerves. Many conditions can be resolved more quickly and
permanently with ART. Many conditions have one important
thing in common: they often result from injury to over-used
muscles.

Massage Therapy
Massage therapy melts away stress and tension, relieving
associated headaches and muscular aches & pains. By
encouraging the body's own healing processes to act, massage
therapy, reduces injury healing time. Massage therapy aids
in the healing process from injury or over-use, and is an
excellent form of preventive health care.
Orthotics
As with any structure, if the foundation is not stable, the
elements above become affected. This also applies to ones
feet, the foundation of your body. Imbalances of the
supporting structures of your feet can result in excessive
foot motion, which in addition to altering proper foot
function, can result in rotation of the legs which may
affect your knees, hips and back. Orthotic devices are
designed to control one’s foot biomechanics to a precise
degree throughout all parts of the walking/running cycle.
Fit Fore Golf
Your golf health, performance and injury management can be
educated right here at the Sheddon Physiotherapy & Sports
Clinic. Dr. Jason Kobrick is a level 4 FITforeGOLF™
certified provider. FITforeGOLF™ focuses on innovative
research into the science and medicine of golf health and
performance. It is a series of continuing education seminars
based on complete review of the scientific and medical
literature and is taught by one of North America’s foremost
golf health researchers. The seminars focus on swing
mechanics coupled to a golfer’s presenting complaint to give
an understanding on how to treat and rehabilitate with
significant results that gets the golfer back to the game
faster. Understanding the mechanics of the golf swing can
also aid the therapist in assessing future complications the
golfer may have and make the proper recommendations to
improve fitness and performance. All golf assessments are
done using a video analysis program called Dartfish, in
which the patient will receive a disk containing their
complete golf analysis. For more information you can visit
the FITforeGOLF™ website at
www.fitforegolf.com.
Dartfish Video Analysis
Analysis of biomechanical function is an integral part of
rehabilitating an injury. Visual feedback to the patient
improves rate of recovery and enforces proper mechanics.
Sheddon Physiotherapy & Sports Clinic is the only health
clinic in Ontario that uses a video software system called
Dartfish for sport and biomechanical analysis. Dartfish is
the Leader in Sports Video Analysis and won an Emmy earlier
in the year for the Stromotion™ broadcast on NBC during the
2004 Olympic Games. Whether you are a professional, amateur
or recreational athlete, the Dartfish software allows you to
integrate video to its maximum potential in sports training
and education. The video software also has a specific
program for golf swing analysis and compliments the
FITforeGOLF™ assessment. If you are interested in viewing
some of softwares applications, you can visit the website at
www.dartfish.com or come by the clinic to see the demo
video.
